Mondaes Step 3 Spinning Class will dive in to advanced wool processing by hand, and include foundational dye work process overviews and demos. Expect a lot of Q and A time with your instructor, and hands-on experiments that give you a taste of what you'd like to continue on your own. Bring your wheel (and all bobbins) to spin up samples, and a notebook if desired.
Step 3 Spinning Class Includes:
- Weekly yarn construction focus and review on 1, 2, & 3 step yarns for use the following weekly dyeing demos:
- Overview of foundational dyeworks type and process for specific fibers
- Wrap and roll space-dying in the microwave
- Steamed waterbath spot methods using crock pots or cookers
- Immersion methods for kettle dying yarn and fiber
FEE: $138 covers all wool, fibers, and dye. Its best if you're working on your own wheel by this stage, though use of shop wheels is possible on a case by case basis.
CLASS TIMES: This class is offered 1 month sessions, with 4 classes per session. Choose your session from the pull-down tab for exact dates and times.
SKILL LEVEL: Students must have a good understanding of their own wheel, tension system, and be able to spin a continuous yarn.
STUDENTS BRING: Yourself, your wheel, bobbins/accessories you have with it. You're welcome to bring your own fibers, but all supplies for class demos are provided.
Does your wheel need a tune up? Drop it off at least 2 weeks in advance for a $48 Complete Tune-Up. Let us know if you do not need to use a class wheel in the comments box at check out, otherwise we'll have one waiting for you.
